ichiban boshi

I suggested going to Cuppage for dinner but walking there and finding out that it was now some kind of educational instituition did not go down well with Grumpy.

The only reason we went in here was because Grumpy was starving and being Grumpy, if he doesn't get food fast, his eyes start turning red and the horns start coming out.

So anyway, Ichiban Boshi has a nice Pasta Waraku-type ambience and as Japanese do, when you enter they shout uhh ichi mashi das or whatever it is.

The house special is the Ichiban Don

It is basically rice with raw salmon, chilli padi, sesame oil and spring onion. IT IS THE BEST THING YOU WILL EVER PUT IN YOUR MOUTH.

Needless to say, this little wonder appeased Grumpy . He was soon joking, laughing and smiling.

THANKS ICHIBAN BOSHI !

no more street parties

Your feet would ache too if you had to stand for 3 hours straight. There was a lot of waiting around. There was a pack of squeeling girls behind us, somehow finding the need to let whoop every 5 goddamn minutes. Someone had bad breath and someone else definately had BO. It was friggin' hot.

I guess it was worth all that to see Daughtry perform. The pic is not all that clear cos iPhone has a pretty crap camera and Grumpy didn't charge up his digicam battery. (yes, besides not filling up the ice tray, he also doesn't charge batteries)

Great performance it was too. Now if only Elliott Yamin would come down...

no bills today

It's a good thing I got rid of that autoroam service I wasn't using yet paying for.

Payment is not required is always a good thing.

Was watching Beyonce revealed on E last night. Destiny's Child initially had 4 members and then 2 because the other 2 wanted to fire their manager (Beyonce's father). So they got another 2 (one of them being Michelle) so there were 4 but then the other one decided it was a little too hectic and thought she didn't have enough say in her career blahblah so she left and THEN there were 3. The End

In Neobux news, it is day 3 (and 4 hours)

Had to spend all of 5c to recyle an inactive referral . Not clicking after 3 days . I figured if this person hasn't clicked in 3 days, they're probably not going to click. ever. in which case I would have wasted 20c to rent him or her. 3 days of precious clicking time already gone !! noOooOO

day 1

It has been almost 24 hours since renting those 100 referrals from neobux. I am pleased to announce that they haven't been sleeping ( most of them anyway )

Here is today's screeny

From yesterday's $0.34 to $2.09 and 29 days to go. Crap on a stick !! I am starting to think I could really make something of this if I get really serious

Neobux

I tried this out today. Only investment so far was US$30 = SG$41.65
This amount was used to 'rent' referrals who will 'work' (click) for you. So why not just sit back and let the money roll in you ask ? Here's the catch, if you don't click, you cannot earn from your referrals clicks. It's a dandy double-edged sword.

If I don't make anything then SHIT but if I do I will post more stats.
Pls cross your fingers and your toes and whatever else that is crossable.

EDIT : In the time it took me to post this, I have made US$0.045. EXCITING !!!

Here's to Heath

With all the hype surrounding Heath's sudden death earlier this year, I really wanted to see his last role as the Joker in The Dark Knight.

He was every bit as menacing, chilling and ruthless as all the critics claimed.

Imagine that ! I can't even begin to fathom what that would be like. I have alot of new-found respect for him.

I remember him fondly as Mel Gibson's son in The Patriot.

He was one of the few A-list Aussies that made it big in Hollywood.

So talented.

How tragic that he died so young.

laksamama's guide on how to cook a steak

Behold my culinary skills !

I shall attempt to educate you lucky monkeys on how to grill up a mean steak. This is sure to impress whoever you intend to impress be it your mum, your significant other, your dog etc etc

STEP ONE - Know your meat !

There are a gazillion cuts of meat out there.. sirloins, rumps, chucks, t-bones just to name a few. I highly recommend getting yourself a rib-eye like so (sorry for the orientation. I may be a genius in the kitchen but when it comes to computers well...not so much)
STEP TWO - Season with love !

Leave it out till its room temperature. Don't worry about germs or whatsoever, you're gonna cook it remember ? Add generous pinches of salt and pepper to both sides and whatever you do, do NOT be foolish and cut off the fat. That's where all the flavour is !

STEP THREE - Turn up the heat !

Get a good strong fire going. This serves to seal in all the juices once the steak hits the pan. A measly flicker will send your juices running. Your steak will end up dry, we wouldn't want that now would we ?P/S : Pay no attention to the dirty stove top. Whoever said cooking was a clean activity ?

STEP FOUR - No shaking!

Once your meat is in, don't move it around. We're not making a stir-fry here, just let the pan do it's thing. Use a pair of tongs, makes life easier. If you like your steak medium rare like me, turn it over after about 2 minutes or until you can just see the juices coming out the top and cook off for another 2 minutes.

STEP FIVE - Give it a rest!

After all that exciting heat treatment, your steak needs to rest. Let it sit off the heat for 5 or so minutes. This is what it should look like. Blushing not gushing on the inside.

There you have it ! Simple wasn't it ? For a more substantial meal, get your assistant to whip up some mash (after instructing him properly of course !)
BON APPETIT !

Grumpy's birthday is coming

Was checking out packages to banyan tree bintan. Pengsan. That is way too much to be spending in one night. Subsequently stopped checking them out.

Nearly all the boys at work have a PSP and even though Grumpy laughs at all of them for being so kiddy I know in his heart he wants one too. The advantage of this is that I will probably end up using it anyway. Advantage number 2 is that I can scum games off their libraries as well.

So here we are
I am addicted to Monster Hunter 2. I had to see if it works right...!

batam bonanza

Spent Sunday in batam. Went on one of them day tours for about $70/person.

Going there was smooth. Coming back was a bitch. Water was super choppy. It didn't help that there was a hyperactive kid sitting behind kicking my chair every now and then.

The numbnut who arranged our tour neglected to get nor tell me about my visa requirements. I found out upon arrival at customs and was directed to queue at another line. He's the one who took down our passport details etc. He should have arranged all this for me beforehand. What a dipshit.

First stop was a local tidbits stall. Bought fish crackers and lots of pantyliners. They were only $1+. Cold storage sells them for bloody $3.40. The coins are remarkably light and feel very toy-like. But when you jingle them they have that metallic sound.

Went to a few temples, a polo shop (dunno real or not) and then had a seafood lunch. Crab, sotong, fish, shrimp and sambal kangkong.

Opted for a $20 1½hr thai massage just before the journey home. BIG MISTAKE.

My upper arms are still sore. Either she really knows how to use her thumbs or I dunno how to relax. When she started 'massaging' my calves, it felt like she was tearing the flesh from my bones. And she massaged all the way up to my crotch, there was definate touching of bits (not front, back. Thank heavens)

Must remember to bring plenty of tissue. The toilets were atrocious. Will try out their spa scene someday. Hopefully it wll be a more relaxing experience.

sneaky singtel

I just paid my recent singtel bill of $33.05 when I suddenly realised I used to pay $17 so wtf ?

Rang em up and enquired. I asked the fella to bring up my Jan bill. Upon scrutiny, 'AutoRoam' was no longer 'Free'

Oh yes... I seem to recall being told of this feature being free for the first 3 months or whatever. But they should at least tell us when they're gonna start charging since it was 'Free' initially. That's only fair what. And anyhow, I switched to Singtel to take advantage of their corporate plan. Because of the bloody AutoRoam, it would amount to the same sum as when I was with Starhub. No point right ??

The more I type about it, the more enraged I get. I have unknowingly paid them 3 months fees of unused 'AutoRoam' services.

So sneaky !!!
