strange little girl

Grumpy and I were having dinner at Wisma food republic last night. The place was not crowded. Plenty of seating everywhere. He chose to sit at one of the the bigger tables along the side , the ones with the benches.

Whilst he sat there and guarded it, I went to buy food. As I was walking back, I saw a little girl of about 7 talk rather animatedly to Grumpy. As she bounced off, I reached the table and saw a plate of chicken rice and a bag (which I presumed belonged to her).

Grumpy told me that the girl had asked him if she and her mother could sit together at the same table.

Ok, this struck me as odd. Who would want to sit with a stranger when there are 50 other UNOCCUPIED tables ??!? It's like human nature not to mingle with strangers unless you can help it. Am I right ??

Anyway fine. We were sitting at the table when the girl returned so I said 'Hi' . She just kinda glared at me . I KID YOU NOT. Even Grumpy admitted later that she looked so disappointed , not at all like the kid he first met. So the mother returns. The atmosphere quite tense. very WTF.

I came to the conclusion that she was trying to get to know Grumpy or set her mom up with Grumpy or something to that extent. Or maybe her mom made her do it. Who the hell knows. Dodgy duo. Grumpy says they are actually vampires and were trying to befriend him and then eventually drink his blood. oh har har.

mandai zoo

We took the $4 shuttle outside Delfi . It stopped at most of the major hotels along orchard before finally heading towards the zoo.

Reached there at about 1400h so we had roughly 3½ hours before the shuttle departed back to the city.

I think it's important to plan your route, know what animal shows you're going for and their feeding times etc etc. However Grumpy just wanted to get on with it. So many a time, I was left standing around with the map in my hands trying to figure out if it was quicker through 'Cat Country' or round the 'Australian Outback'

Anyway, I have not walked that much in a LONG time.

The highlight, most definately, was the kangaroo feeding at $5 a pop

It may look like I am feeding a llama but I can assure you it is an Eastern Grey Kangaroo.

It was horribly tame and oh so cute. Too bad there were no koalas
