if the shoe fits

Last Saturday after a chicken rice dinner at Far East Plaza, Grumpy's sisters wanted to check out wisma atria. I dragged Grumpy to Tangs . It's so nice and cheery there. Just makes you want to spend money.

After walking past Paris Hilton's bag collection (?! - yes, is there anything this girl DOESN'T do ?) We went one floor up to the tang&co section.

Browsing browsing browsing... yes all nice and posh. THEN I came across this shoe. Not them teeny tiny ones. First look, appealing, big size , could possibly , hopefully fit me. Turn it over for the price ....
Only $69 ???? From $399 ????? omg am I on punkd ??! A lovely shoe (that fits me--that's like a miracle in itself) for a lovely price. Thank you , I am blessed.

bros birthday

Today is my brother's birthday. Sent him a package last week consisting of a manga bible and some xbox games (though I'm sure he probably has those titles downloaded somewhere in his ridiculous terabyte tower)

He texted me that he received the comic bible and also a note from customs saying they have taken 'some contraband stuff' . I replied, 'Damn, xbox games considered contraband meh?'

First thought was the games didn't make it. Kinda harsh, there were only 3 titles - one of them being a 4disc RPG. I thought maybe they'd open up the package and poke around but not confiscate the bloody things. Then I thought about the time I wasted in going to JB to get them. How, at customs, me and Grumpy nervously went through the scanner. Waited for the bus in line with every other Tom Dick and Harry going back to Singapore. And then how maybe I should have sent them via registered mail or used someone who was going over to help me pass them to him. Bugger it.

Then he texts 'Joking la. Got 'em.Thx so much'

ugh. brothers -_-

shop is opening

Mum's shop is having an opening this Friday. It totally sucks that I cannot go. I know we are not on the best of terms but of course I would love to support her on her business venture. If only I had picked a different session for the concert, if only her opening was on Saturday instead.

I feel so bad , she made it no big deal saying 'nthg fancy jus look see and finger fd. betta dun miss concert'

What makes it worse is that she also invited Grumpy ie finally warming up to him , hallelujah
Like this couch the best. Doesn't look very comfy but is very chocolatey. YUM

fries and rings

Maccers should be judged by the quality of their fries. I mean seriously, does anyone go there solely for their burgers ?

In my opinion, the best Maccers in town is at Lucky Plaza basement. The fries there are super steady. Always crisp, always hot always at the right saltiness. The queensway shopping centre branch has the worst fries . QSC however, does have the best katong laksa ! But that's another story.

Having been impressed with the fries at Lucky, it didn't take me much convincing to try their onion rings (part of their promotional menu to tie-in with Kung Fu Panda though why I'll never know, aren't pandas on a strictly bamboo diet ?) These things are awesome !

They may not look like much but I didn't expect them to be so crispy and so oniony - you can bloody see the onion ring inside. Burger King sell a crumby, limp-ass version without an onion in sight. Very ex though. Wanted to sub the fries for the onion rings so after upsizing had to add an additional 50c. You open the box and get like, 7 rings. Oh well nevermind, I like !

grumpy curry puff man

Grumpy curry puff man runs a kueh kueh stall at the hawker centre where I work. His curry puffs are 60c each. A bit pricier than most but not as much as that outrageous old chang kee. Mushy filling covered in mushy dough. uggh.
What I like best about grumpy curry puff man's curry puffs is the dough . It's all in the dough - very difficult to find a pastry that's not too doughy and not too flaky.

Anyhow I told him I wanted 4 so he puts them all in individual clear plastic bags and then puts the 4 into another plastic bag (with handles). I handed over my $2.40 and he looks at me blankly and says its $2.50 .

"Uncle, aren't they 60c each ?" He then gives me this look as if I have the nerve to ask him such a question and replies with,

"The plastic bag is 10c. C'mon you're so rich, I'm sure 10c you can afford " (!!?! - wtf. Is it wrong for a customer to ask what she's paying for nowadays or is there some kind of new ruling I don't know about ?) I curtly said,

"Uncle your curry puffs are nice but your attitude isn't"

I was only clarifying. wtf lor. The least he could do was scribble a sign somewhere if he is incapable of human contact. Not that hard right ?? Also, what if I didn't want the bag with the handles, didn't bother to ask me is it. diu

Apparently he is infamous for being an ass according to indian milo man, chicken rice man and fruit juice man.
